The Moment You Know
Lindsey had just celebrated her twenty-third birthday; she was not in school, had a job, and lived with her aunt. She was out with friends, had a “one night stand while using protection, and the protection broke”. In addition, Lindsey only has one fallopian tube and wasn’t supposed to be able to conceive. Weeks later she confirmed she was pregnant. When Lindsey shared this news with the guy he resolutely told her she was on her own.
Lindsey didn’t want a child. She had plans to return to school to become a substance abuse counselor. In that moment she knew…….Lindsey knew right away adoption was the best choice.
Lindsey had the full support of her family, sought resources, and came across Deborah at Birthmothers Choice. Lindsey encourages ladies to “be open to talk to Deborah. She’s understanding, comfortable, and you should trust her”.
Deborah put Lindsey in touch with some adoptive families helping her set up phone interviews. Instantly, during the first call, Lindsey knew. She was comfortable with the couple during the phone call. Lindsey was looking for a couple with “similar attributes who like Dr Seuss and Disney, wouldn’t spoil him and would give him a strong work ethic.” This initial phone call confirmed they were perfect. Lindsey was at peace with her choice to place the baby for adoption with the family she spoke to.
The couple flew in before Lindsey was induced and stayed during the delivery. The little boy was beautiful; but, again Lindsey was given a sense of comfort and peace that she made the best decision.
Today Lindsey is in school and has the chance “in life to pursue what I want” . She claims fate played a role in her getting pregnant, giving this family the perfect baby, and pairing the two of them together. She receives monthly pictures and emails of the boy as she pursues her life goals and in that moment she is assured she made the right decision.
